From the Desk of Dr. Davette - A ScholarPreneurAs an academic adjacent, I realized that the traditional academic path is no longer the only avenue for researchers seeking meaningful careers and sustainable impact. Across disciplines, postdoctoral scholars and independent researchers are discovering new opportunities to apply their expertise beyond universities, creating innovative ventures, consulting practices, educational platforms, and knowledge-based businesses. These emerging professionals are becoming ScholarPreneurs: individuals who combine scholarly excellence with entrepreneurial thinking. Since I was an entrepreneur prior to becoming a scholar, specifically an entrepreneurial coach known as the "The woman with the plan", applying my marketing and scholarship skills outside of academia was natural. My doctorate in education focused on higher education curriculum and instruction with an interdisciplinary interest in entrepreneurship. Therefore, I built an academic adjacent career that provides tutoring and editing services which support scholars with their research across disciplines. However, after providing guidance to over a thousand emerging and existing scholars who wanted to make an impact after having their degrees conferred, I realized that there was a train-the-trainer opportunity that could provide guidance in this area of my expertise.
